Daisho-ki mandarin oranges are a premium citrus variety from Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan, born from a natural branch mutation of the Dekopon (also known as the "protruding head mandarin orange"). This variety was first discovered by Mr. Koichi Ohno, a fruit farmer in Akune City, Kagoshima Prefecture. The name is derived from the character "大" (Oh) in his name and "将季" (Masashi) in his son's name, carrying a special meaning. The peel is a vibrant red, with an appealing appearance and a naturally ripened aroma. Daisho-ki mandarin oranges are primarily cultivated in orchards facing the sea, where the trees receive direct sunlight, reflected light from the sea, and reflected light from stone walls.
